Matteo Guendouzi is the latest footballer to suffer a knee ligament tear, with the French midfielder having been ruled out for up to six months after undergoing surgery.
The 22-year-old joined Marseille on loan from Arsenal in January and was making steady progress before his injury occurred during a game against Rennes last month.
Guendouzi has had a difficult few years since leaving Arsenal in 2019 following his arrest on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. He spent time on loan at Sevilla, but struggled to make an impact there and ultimately returned to Arsenal where he signed a new contract in June 2021.
The injury could be a setback for Marseille,Match Point Hotspot Station who have already lost star striker Kylian Mbappé to Paris Saint-Germain and will need all their players to perform well if they are to challenge for the Ligue 1 title this season.
